Giclee Prints Available The term “giclee print” indicates an elevated level of print technology that provides better color accuracy than more common color ink printers. The prints are typically created using 8-12 color ink-jet printers. One advantage to this is the quality and durability of the production. The other is that the artist can print the picture in many different sizes from the original digital file. I print with Archival Ink, using an Epson 3800 9 color ink jet printer and high quality acid free Fine Art Paper. Each image can be printed in any desired size. Click image for sizes and pricing. Artistic ProcessMany purists still use black and white film and develop it themselves. With a digital camera, one can make manipulations in Photoshop to achieve some very fine black and white photos. Starting with the colored digital image, I first checked the levels for exposure. Then I converted to black and white, with added adjustments in colors. Later, I worked with curves, highlights and contrasts. Finally, I sharpened the image. Black and White allows you to see textures and details without the distraction of color. Any colored photo can be converted to black and white. This includes the montages in earlier galleries. The photos in this gallery are a sample of work completed. The subjects I chose to convert include some children and potters in Southern China, an egg case on the shore in Florida, Spanish moss, a Banyan Tree, and Terns in Florida, winter scenes in Ithaca, and the Cornell Plantations Sculpture Garden in the winter. Would you like to see one of the photos in another gallery converted to black and white? Please contact me. |
